The End of Processing?

October 1st, 2014

fujiPicSome of you may know that Fujifilm will be departing from the processing service industry at the end of October 2014. Fujifilm, one of the leading photographic film and digital manufacturers, will instead be concentrating on the production of new paper types.

This may seem a blow to loyal analogue film users, but there is more to this story than Fujifilm alone. From the outset, Fujifilm UK never operated their own processing laboratory. Instead, several professional labs were vetted in terms of quality control and customer service. Each of these bodies were professional labs in their own right, that continued to generate business after their contract with Fujifilm migrated to a different lab.

We at CC Imaging were the lab who held the contract with Fujifilm during the latter years of Fuji’s involvement with processing. After several discussions, we were selected from a handful of top tier companies to become the new Fujifilm Processing Laboratory. We received hundreds of film every week, Sensia, Provia, Velvia as well as others. All films were treated with the care and respect that won us the contract, we just did it under the Fujifilm brand.

So the end of an era, in reality, is just the end of the brand. From November 2014, there will no longer be an official Fujifilm Processing Laboratory. This brand will cease to exist, but the values and services you loyal film users have come to appreciate remain in place, here at CC Imaging.

We will continue to process, mount, scan and print your precious films with all the care and attention you expect from a professional lab, from Fuji. After all, it was us all along!
