Dev and Scan

From chemistry to ones and zeros. It’s all binary.

 

Film is scanned on a Fujifilm Frontier 570 minilab to standard photographic output sizes. Say ‘Yes’ to Digital Transfer and we will send your scans to you using WeTransfer (mail order customers: you’ll also receive your completed order through the post).

List of maximum resolutions at each scan size:

• 6×4 inch scans have a pixel density of 1800 pixels x 1200 pixels.
• 7.5×5 inch scans have a pixel density of 2250 pixels x 1500 pixels.
• 9×6 inch scans have a pixel density of 2700 pixels x 1800 pixels.
• 12×8 inch scans have a pixel density of 3600 pixels x 2400 pixels.
• 18×12 inch scans have a pixel density of 5400 pixels x 3600 pixels.
• All scans are graded (colour & density corrected) and will be full frame area (where possible).
• Scans will not be cropped to a subject.

Scans are saved as jpg files which is the only file type available when scanning through a minilab. Scans must be opened in an image editor such as Photoshop for their uncompressed size to be displayed. All E6 / C41 films receive a digital ICE removal pass (to gently remove dust and scratches from scans).

Please note that digital ICE, the professional dust and scratch removal pass, is incompatible with scans from traditional Black and White film. Marks/dust/scratches introduced through the camera will be present on each scan. We can offer a dust and scratch removal service for traditional Black and White films, if you require this please contact us.
